The doctrine of “sphere sovereignty” was developed by the neo-Calvinist statesman Abraham Kuyper (Prime Minister, Netherlands, 1901-1905).
The intent was to articulate a comprehensive Christian worldview, while distinguishing the divinely appointed authority of family, church, and state.
