Five Solas Church

This story of gospel growth began nearly twenty years ago, as a few reformed Christians were traveling an hour to Madison each week for worship and fellowship.

They concluded that Reedsburg needed a Reformed church and after weighing the denominational options, chose to plant the time-tested and fruitful seeds of Westminster theology and Presbyterian government.

Grace Reformed Church, a member congregation of the OPC, was planted and it began to grow; needing to be transplanted to a new location, on average, every three years.

A positive effect of all these relocations was that it has helped the church embrace the pilgrim identity of its religious heritage.

A negative effect was that it occasionally gave the unfortunate impression of impermanency to those whom they were seeking to reach with the Gospel.

Whatever outward impressions may have been, the impact of the church has been undeniable with sinners saved, saints sanctified, and Christ’s Body fully engaged in the work of ministry. As Christ said, “Ye shall know them by their fruits.”

The church investigated several properties over the years, but it appears that God was preparing a certain spot all along: The Reedsburg Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses (pictured below).

The members of Grace Reformed Church believe this ground has been prepared for them and that the time has come to put down permanent roots in Reedsburg.

This opportunity comes, of course, at a cost and here are the current calculations:

Asking price: $475,000

Local capital campaign: $125,000  Surpassed!

Fundraising goal: $200,000

The church does qualify for a mortgage and is willing to close the remaining financial gap by borrowing, but they do not want to run ahead of God and not give him opportunity to provide in a more remarkable manner through the generosity of his people.

Will you please help?

How We Got To This Point

It has been both humbling and exciting…

August 1, 2018

The first inquiry was made on the building at 850 Clark Street. It seemed that it was just way outside of our price range, so no one thought much about it.

 September 24, 2018

After a decade of renting from First Presbyterian Church, the congregation decided to step forward in faith and re-transplant our church.

October 7, 2018

The Reedsburg Town Hall became our new temporary meeting place. While thankful and content, we were also eager to where God might lead next.

January 5, 2019

During its scheduled visit, the presbytery’s visitation commitee accompanied the elders on a visit to see the building. Wise counsel was offered and considered.

February 10, 2019

The elders decided to pursue purchase of the building and announced an in-house capital fundrasing campaign.

March 15, 2019

The Presbytery of the Midwest approved our church as the recipient of this year’s Kingsmen Offering.

March 17, 2019

The offerings received during worship put us past our goal for in-house fundraising!

April 14, 2019

Our in-house campaign concluded with giving exceeding our goal by $10,000!

May 4, 2019

Only four months after our campaign began, our building fund doubled.

June 9, 2019

The congregation voted to make an offer on the building.

June 10, 2019

Our offer was presented to the realtor.

June 21, 2019

The seller accepted our offer as is and our financing through the OPC was approved.

We closed on July 31st and will hold our first worship service this Sunday! Please join us!

Let Us REMAIN MINDFUL

“So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God…” (1 Corinthians 3:7-9)
